AI Girlfriend Roleplay App Comparison: Plot and Photos

Where an AI Girlfriend Roleplay Holds or Slips

Roleplay apps get judged in one moment. You're three scenes into a story and you ask her for a photo of where she says she is. Either the same woman shows up in the picture or the illusion breaks. This comparison is built around that moment, not a feature checklist.

Every app here faces three tests:

  • Consistency: the character stays herself, with the same face and the same history, from one scene to the next.
  • Media: a photo you ask for arrives inside the scene, not in some separate tool you have to open.
  • Momentum: the plot can move without you scripting every beat.

My pick is GoLove.ai, for a narrow reason. Photos you request mid-chat come back as the same character. Its group Scenarios also let characters carry a scene between themselves. A story-driven reader notices that pairing more than any spec-sheet bullet.

Below is the desktop chat, and it shows the third test. The character keeps the conversation going on her own instead of waiting for your next prompt.

The main rival is OurDream. It bundles chat, image generation and video generation in one subscription and keeps memory over recent message history. It's web-only, with no native mobile app. Those strengths are real, and they get their due below.

Asking for a Photo Without Leaving the Story

Take a concrete case. You're mid-scene, and she's just told you she's waiting on a hotel balcony. You tap the media button, choose Send Photo and describe the moment in your own words: the balcony, the city lights, the mood she set.

About 20–45 seconds later, a photo lands right in the thread for 1 Star. There's no tab-switching and no re-explaining who she is.

Does the photo look like the same character? Yes, and that's the whole point. Her face and body stay consistent with her avatar and the photos she's already sent. Most roleplay apps slip at exactly this step.

Under the photo sits a one-tap Generate Video button. It makes a ~5-second clip of that same scene in about a minute, for 10 Stars.

Pros/cons aside: the big win is that the picture belongs to the story you're already in. The letdown is cost creep. A video at 10 Stars runs ten times the price of a photo, so I'd treat it as an occasional extra rather than the default.

If on-character photos are why you're shopping, check this before anything else. The chat works before you sign up and her first photo is already visible, so you can judge the match yourself for free.

When the Story Needs More Than Two People

Most apps stop at one-on-one chat. Bigger stories need a cast.

Scenarios is GoLove's group roleplay: one chat with 2 to 10 characters, each answering in her own voice. Got no premise? The Random button writes one for you. Then there's Continue, which lets the characters carry the scene between themselves while you decide when to step back in. They can even share photos inside the story. Multi-character roleplay where you aren't the only engine is still rare, and it's the part of the spec that caught me off guard.

Series goes further. These are GoLove's own short 18+ vertical dramas, with 5 series and 32 episodes as of October 2026. Episodes 1–2 of every series are free to watch. After that you need PRO plus a few Stars per episode.

The Only Mortal in Heaven is a good example. William gets fired, cheated on and killed in one night, then wakes up as the only living man in heaven. Two women want him: Angel, a sweet angel, and Asmodea, a wicked demoness. Watch the free episodes, tap Start Chatting, and you're talking to the cast with the plot already loaded.

> A ready-made plot hands you stakes, a rival and a reason to reply. A blank chat box hands you homework.

A second currency is nothing special in this category, since both apps use one. The two don't convert, though. We could not confirm how many DreamCoins one OurDream image costs, so a per-image comparison isn't possible.

GoLove's per-piece math is simple. Each image costs 1 Star, which makes the 100 monthly PRO Stars easy to budget (a hundred pictures, if pictures are all you spend on).

OurDream gets a fair point here. It presents everything as one bundle, and some readers just want that.

Building a Roleplay Partner From a Paragraph

None of the ready-made cast fits your story? The create wizard starts with a category: Realistic, Anime or Trans. Anime fans get a shortcut too, with 300+ anime AI girlfriends in their own Explore category.

Design with AI is the faster route. You describe her in plain text, up to 2,000 characters covering temperament, backstory and how she talks to you. In about a minute you get a named character with her own @handle, a written bio and a portrait, for around 3 Stars. New characters stay private by default.

For roleplay, the tone settings that come next matter more than looks:

ai girlfriend roleplay app comparison — a character portrait shot in a herbarium setting
Among pressed specimens at night, she suggests roleplay girlfriend apps should keep their plots as carefully sorted as their photos. (tap to zoom)
  • Lust level: five steps, from 1 sweet and wholesome to 5 unfiltered.
  • Response length: 1 short and snappy to 5 rich and immersive. This one decides whether she narrates the scene or just reacts to it.
  • Reply suggestions: the magic-wand button writes 3 possible replies when you're stuck. You can also rate any answer 1–5 and regenerate it.

Pros/cons aside: the big win is a full character from one paragraph. The letdown is that it spends Stars, and 2 free daily Stars don't stretch far.

OurDream's custom builder gets you there too, though its setup curve is steeper. Tinkerers won't mind. If you just want the story to start, it's slower.

Who GoLove.ai Is NOT For

Fair is fair: GoLove isn't the right app for everyone.

What you get: in-chat photos that stay on-character, group Scenarios with a Continue button, ready-made Series premises and tone sliders that shape the roleplay.

What you give up:

  • Free unlimited use. The verified free tier is 2 daily Stars, a limited daily Feed and episodes 1–2 of each Series. For anything beyond that, plan on PRO.
  • Male characters. There's no AI boyfriend yet. The gender filter shows Female and Trans, plus "Male (Soon)."
  • Flat-fee simplicity. Media spends Stars on top of the subscription. If you'd rather think in one bundled plan with video included, OurDream's model is easier to reason about.
  • A real relationship. A companion app is a story you co-write, not a partner who shows up at your door. If that's what's missing, no app on this page fixes it.

Pricing also shifts by region and promo. New users see a limited-time −70% offer on their first subscription, so the number on your screen may not match a review.

Those trade-offs are small for readers who need the story and the pictures to stay one continuous thing. For them, I'd recommend it.

What I'd Do on the First Night

In order:

  1. Open GoLove and pick Series from the main menu.
  2. Watch the two free episodes of The Only Mortal in Heaven, or whichever premise pulls you in.
  3. Tap Start Chatting with Angel or Asmodea.
  4. Set the lust and response-length sliders before your first message, so the tone matches the plot.
  5. Let the scene build, and ask for a photo once it earns one, not in your opening line.

OurDream suits readers who want chat, images and video bundled in one web subscription. That's a fair reason to pick it.

For roleplay where the plot and the pictures have to stay one continuous thing, GoLove.ai is my pick. Photos you ask for in chat match the character already in your story. Scenarios let the cast keep a scene alive between themselves. Series also gets new episodes every week, per GoLove, so the shelf of premises keeps growing.

If no ready-made cast fits, write her yourself tonight. One paragraph in Design with AI gets you a named character with a bio and portrait in about a minute, ready for that first scene.
